PUBLIC NOTICE TO NIGERIANS IN CAMBODIA REGARDING THE FAKE "OFFICIAL NOTICE CLAIMING THAT THE WAIVER FOR AFRICAN NATIONALS WILL END ON 31ST MAY 2026

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Manila with concurrent accreditation to the Kingdom of Cambodia wishes to inform Nigerians residing in Cambodia that it has fact-checked the immigration memo currently circulating on social media and other platforms, purportedly issued by the Cambodian Immigration authorities, and confirms that the document is false.

2. Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior of the Royal Government of Cambodia, in an official publication titled "Statement of Clarification" dated 29th May 2026, has categorically disowned and rejected the purported "Official Notice."

3. In view of the foregoing, all Nigerians are advised to disregard the fake notice and remain calm, as there is presently no cause for alarm regarding the circulating document.

4. The Embassy further wishes to update the Nigerian community on the ongoing repatriation and voluntary return exercise for stranded Nigerians in Cambodia. Following sustained engagements with the Cambodian Government, the Embassy successfully secured waiver approvals for immigration fines and penalties for stranded Nigerians. The first batch approval, which was requested on 5th March 2026, was granted within the same month and covered 234 persons. The second batch approval, requested on 1st April 2026, was likewise granted within the same month and covered 223 persons.

5. Consequently, over 150 Nigerians have successfully exited Cambodia and returned to Nigeria. The remaining beneficiaries are currently awaiting flight tickets and logistical support from their families to facilitate their departure.

6. In addition, the Embassy is presently processing a third batch of waiver approvals involving over 380 Nigerians. However, Cambodian immigration authorities have indicated that the current waiver window may close by 31st June 2026. Nigerians wishing to benefit from the ongoing waiver arrangement are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of the opportunity before the possible expiration of the exercise.

7. The Embassy remains committed to working closely with the relevant Cambodian authorities to ensure the smooth conclusion of the exercise and will continue to monitor developments while keeping the Nigerian community adequately informed.
